Course Withdrawals, Transfers, Substitutions & Cancellations
Withdrawal or transfer from a course
Online delivery • A full refund less a $50 + tax administrative fee provided the request is received via email to bcBuilderTraining%23ca|info before beginning the online course. The course fee will not be refunded in whole or in part if a student withdraws after beginning the online course
Student substitutions • For a $50 + tax administrative fee, a student may take the place of another student enrolled in a course before a course has been started provided 24 hours’ notice is received via email to bcBuilderTraining%23ca|info.
Withdrawal due to illness • If a student withdraws for medical reasons confirmed in writing by a physician, 100% of the course fee will be refunded less a $50 + tax administrative fee.
Refunds • Are issued according to the original method of payment and may take up to 5 business days unless requested sooner via e-mail to bcBuilderTraining%23ca|info
Completion of online courses • Students have 6 months from the date of course registration to complete each online course. Extensions can be purchased if additional time is required.
Extension requests • If you are unable to complete a course within the original 6 month time period allotted, you may purchase up to three extensions. Each extension is 3 months in length. The fee for each extension is $100 + tax.
Exam rewrite • $50 + tax per rewrite. Exam rewrites are not available for challenge exams. Exam rewrites are available within 3 months of completing the online course. The fee must be paid in advance. A minimum of 5 business days notice prior to the exam date is required to schedule an exam.
Rescheduling an exam • $50 + tax. If an exam needs to be rescheduled with less than 5 business days notice, a $50 + tax fee will apply. No fee will be charged to reschedule an exam providing that at least 5 business days advance notice is given.
Exam challenge or proficiency test• $150 + tax. Individuals who feel they have proficiency in the subject matter may choose to pay $150 + tax per course and take BC Builder Training's 3rd party proctored qualification (core competency) exam. Students will not be provided access to any of the course materials in order to prepare for the exam. The challenge exam was developed specifically for BC Builder Training's course content which aligns with BC Housing's learning outcomes for the subject area. A minimum of 5 business days notice prior to the exam date is required to schedule an exam.
Exam challenge participants will only be given one opportunity to pass the challenge exam with a minimum passing grade of 70% or greater. In addition to receiving course credit, an individual who successfully completes the challenge exam will also receive a $150 credit towards the next BC Builder Training course they complete. Only one course credit can be applied towards the tuition of another course. The course credit is valid for 12 months. No other challenge exam rewrites are permitted. (An exception to this policy will be granted only to those individuals who receive a grade between 65% - 69% on the challenge exam. They will be allowed a second challenge exam rewrite for a fee of $50 + tax. However, they will not receive the $150 credit towards another course.)
Third party exam proctoring locations are available throughout the province. Participants will need to make arrangements with a proctor testing location to have the online exam proctored. The cost of the proctor is not included in the cost of the exam challenge. Participants will need to pay the proctor directly for their services. Passing grade • All courses have a minimum passing grade of 70%.
Duplicate requests for student records • Electronic student records are available through our learning management system bcBuilderTraining2.ca. A paper copy of the record is available for a fee of $25 + tax. This includes any duplicate notifications such as course completion letter or employer notification
Dishonoured cheque • $25+ tax
Declined credit card transaction • $25 + tax
